Focus for Humanity è una fondazione no-profit statunitense che sostiene fotografi dilettanti e professionisti di tutto il mondo aiutandoli nel loro lavoro a raccontare storie culturali ed esperienze umanitarie di realtà, tipo il lavoro delle ONG, che altrimenti non troverebbe modo di emergere. Inoltre attraverso una serie di sovvenzioni, parziali o totali, premi e workshop aiuta questi fotografi a imparare o perfezionare il loro mestiere.
Who are we?
Focus For Humanity is a US based non profit foundation that supports amateur and professional photographers throughout the world to focus their work on telling cultural and humanitarian stories. Through a series of grants and awards it helps these photographers to perfect their craft by funding not only fully expensed photographic assignments to work with underfunded NGOs, but also grants to help people become full-time photographers or to improve their craft by subsidizing attendance on photographic workshops and providing mentoring schemes with leading humanitarian and travel photographers.

La nostra missione è fornire sostegno finanziario, risorse e formazione per fotografi professionisti e dilettanti che vogliono documentare il lavoro di ONG che si occupano di storie di realtà problematiche e poco conosciute in zone più o meno sottosviluppate del mondo.
Our Mission
Our mission it to provide financial support, resources and training for professional and amateur photographers who capture these stories of our shared humanity and to help fund their work with NGOs.
Il Direttivo
Il Direttivo è composto da 8 importanti persone tra viaggiatori, fotografi (io sono uno di essi) e professionisti del settore umanitario. Il loro ruolo è quello di valutare e selezionare i vincitori dei concorsi di fotografia della Fondazione, promuovere la Fondazione e tenere i collegamenti con potenziali sponsor e ONG. L’iscrizione è solo su invito.
The Advisory Council
The foundation’s Advisory Council is made up of 8 (i’m one of them) of the worlds leading travel and humanitarian photographers and industry professionals.
Their role is to judge and select the winners of the Foundation’s photo competitions, to help evangelise the foundations’s work with potential sponsors and NGOs, to provide mentoring capabilities in association with the IGVP and to help the Foundation form its strategy for following years. Membership is by invitation only.
